This photograph is of three sets of hands, two are woman's hands and the other a man's hands. Polygamy consists of one man engaging in a marital relationship with many women. Although legally a man cannot be married to more than one wife, spiritually the other women are bound to their husbands. This system of marriage is not socially acceptable in our American culture; most polygamist families live within a subculture.
