When examining the media's portrayal of sex and gender, one finds that in all aspects of the media gender roles are being played out giving a model to be followed. We internalize from a very early age what is a socially acceptable way to act according to our gender. My example of Cinderella teaches young girls to clean and wait for Prince Charming to rescue her. This unrealistic idea that girls should do nothing with their lives and wait for a man is being ingrained into young girls minds by these media infuences.
